Datamax M-Class Labels Datamax barcode labels come in direct thermal and thermal transfer.  Direct thermal barcode labels do not require the use of a ribbon.  Thermal transfer barcode labels require a ribbon for use.  Please refer here if you would like to learn more about the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer barcode labels. The Datamax M-4206, M-4208, and M-4306 are able to print direct thermal and thermal transfer  barcode labels.  The M-Class printers maximum outer diameter core size is 8 inches and the maximum inner core size is 3 inches.  The media width for the E-Class ranges from .75 inches to 4.65 inches.  The maximum print width ranges from 4.16 inches to 4.25 inches, depending on the specific model.
